“Paris”

When I got Paris, my life had changed. I now had two small children. When my older Terv passed, and I was ready, I went looking for a Terv with good health and a wonderful temperament as my first prerequisites. Well we found one—way up in Canada about as far away as you could get, but he sounded right and it worked out his breeder could bring him to the UBSDA Specialty in Michigan. Michigan, I can get to! When I first laid eyes on him I thought, “This is a nicer looking little fella than I expected. Maybe I will take him into the show ring.” (I had showed in Juniors years ago but this little guy made me think maybe I should get back in the ring.) At his first show when he was ten months old, he went Winners Dog from the 9–12 month puppy class for two points; I was hooked.

Paris is now CH Nicha's Soupçon de Paris PT CGC. One of Paris's strengths is his temperament. He is outstanding with children and is basically just a calm, happy boy. He has a long, straight coat with a beautiful rich mahogany color and a strong black overlay. He has nice structure and a lovely outline. Paris also has a nice front assembly and very nice movement, especially side gait. He has correct tail carriage, a true almond eye, though a medium brown eye color. Paris's ear set and size are nice and he has very nice parallel planes. He also has full detention and a scissors bite. He is about 24½ inches tall, but he has the illusion of more height due to his very nice, long, elegant neck with the trademark Belgian arch. He is CHIC #18303 with OFA excellent hips. Paris was the #8 Belgian Tervuren in 2005, per the AKC/Eukanuba rankings.

He was bred by Michèle Gauvin, DVM, of Sainte-Blandine, Québec: home of Élevage Nicha. He is from the first litter of her home bred multiple-group placing Can. Ch. BISS BPIS ATChC Nicha Question de Charisme Can. CD AGX AD HIC HITs and Can. Ch. ATChC Nicha Nova une Étoile est Née Can. CDX AGX AD HITs.

Michèle took a chance sending one of her puppies so far away to someone that, though recommended, she did not know. Now we are both so pleased that she took the chance and today we enjoy a wonderful friendship.

Paris and I are currently enrolled in an obedience course since he received his Canine Good Citizen with absolutely no training and his mother Nova is an American and Canadian National High-in-Trial-winning Terv. Though my first love is conformation, the next show I enter will be for his CD title—I know I will be the points-off leader of our two-“man” team.

Paris and I are both also working in herding and looking forward to trying this coming year for his Started title.
