Mountain Top News

Well, the pups have all gone to their forever homes now, but keep an eye out on these pages, as I will keep updating them as often as I can.

If you haven't already, check out the litter's secret diary!

We believe the Mountain Top litter is the first one born to two parents with CHIC numbers since the ABTC joined the CHIC program. To receive a CHIC number, a Terv has to be CERF'd, have OFA Elbows and Thyroid numbers and OFA or PennHIP hip certification. For more information on the CHIC program, check out their website at http://www.caninehealthinfo.org/.

Sadly, we lost the smallest, premature puppy, Miss Pink, at only a day old.

Maria had her first puppy at 1:05 a.m. Monday morning, March 10. When we did the ultrasound at thirty days the vet told us six, maybe seven puppies. Well, in the course of two hours and eleven minutes, Maria popped out nine! It was almost an hour after the ninth, and though Libbye thought she felt one more, Maria felt she was quite done, so we sent her out with Derek to the yard while we quickly cleaned up the box. Mr. Ten was born, (as all good Kentuckian dogs should be, he says) on the porch on Maria's way out to potty. Thankfully, a quick-thinking Derek just snagged it on the way out and yelled from the front door, “Puppy!”

We were stunned! Ten puppies!
