About Flint
Flint wasn't the puppy we'd planned to keep. The plan was to keep pick female from the Mountain Top litter. But Flint stood out to me from the start. Even before he could walk he was easy to pick out in the litter. Not only was his bright color distinguishing, whenever I entered the room, he would look up, watch me intently, and laugh the cutest little open-mouthed puppy laugh. A few days after his eyes opened up, he would sit for minutes at a time watching me wave at him and laugh and smile at me. It seemed he was always laughing about something, in his little puppy way. Flint was always interested in where Derek and I were. He was easygoing with his littermates, and enjoyed playing with them, but when he had the opportunity, he'd hang out with me. I've never met a puppy so thoroughly amused by the world as Flint! By the time he was five weeks old his incredibly happy-go-lucky and yet focused and intelligent demeanor had won me over. There were perhaps prettier dogs in the litter, and there were perhaps dogs with more drive, but there was only one Flint. So he became our “pick puppy” and I hope we'll be laughing together for many years.
